Summary

Bottom Line – Beautiful, sprawling scenery and building with solid beers and good service but overpriced and overrated food.

Sierra Nevada is obviously not founded in Asheville, but it has made a second home there in Mills River. About 30 minutes south of the city (and about 10 from the airport) they have a massive property and boast that their food and beers utilize ingredients harvested there on property. Point blank – the place is stunning. There is so much outdoor space and the indoor space is huge too with very nice seating. They obviously serve food, but we were a little disappointed at the dishes we got. They weren’t bad but we had high hopes. The beers were exactly what you would expect with a good size menu but not hitting all the styles I’d like to see. The servers were all very nice at the multiple bars we went to and ultimately I am glad we went. I imagine it’s a really cool place to be when there is an event going on. Ultimately, though, we probably won’t go back when we visit again unless we need to kill time before the airport. Word of warning, Lyft and Uber are very unreliable that far out, so make sure you have a good plan for getting to the airport. We almost missed our flight!
