Summary

Bottom Line – A very solid brewery experience. It doesn’t have a defining attribute but everything about it was good.

Black lab brewing was our fourth stop in the east end Friday. Neat coincidence, but this is my first brewery with the same name of another I’ve already been to. I’m doubled up (I will write a review eventually for the other, which is in Barcelona). Menu size was pretty good and style offerings were very similar to most of the other breweries. Closest thing to a dark beer was a dark lager. Again, not really surprising in the summer. The food in the back on this day…Texas BBQ. All of us being from Texas, we were tempted to see how Canada did it, but we had been eating so much already. They had Texas Twinkies, which is a nice touch. Beers I had were good, though I don’t think I had anything that reached “special”. The building itself was narrow. With four rooms, it had small identities you progress through. Front porch, to-go and merch room, big indoor bar space, and back patio. We didn’t get space in the back which is a shame with the breeze, but did get a table inside which was fine. They didn’t have stickers or coasters which I thought was a little weird, as it’s how I collect a token from each brewery I visit. Both bartenders were really friendly, too. Another great service experience. Ultimately, there’s a decent chance I come back next time I visit because the beers are solid and the location within the East side is good too.
