Summary

Bottom Line – Excellent classic Czech beers with a Japanese flair and…German food? Interesting mix but it works. If you want excellent execution of classic beers, make the trip.

Godspeed is another I found to be tough to rate. It was their 7th anniversary so they flew in a bunch of specialty Japanese beers (which is their theme/vibe), and they were all excellent. But because of that they didn’t have a ton of their own taps. I ended up trying two of their standard Czech beers; one was excellent…the other was exceptional. I tried a few other cans/bottles and they were all clearly well crafted. The menu has some decent food offering, but even when it’s not their big birthday, they stick to a limited set of styles so their menu won’t score high. I also thought the pretzels were just ok. I don’t care if they’re more traditional. I liked the vibe of the space and the layout. Big tables. High ceilings. Nice furniture. Not a “games and TVs” kinda place which is fine. That’s not their identity. I will note that more than one person in my group thought that maybe they were trying a little too hard to be what they were. “Taking themselves a little too seriously”. I can’t say I entirely agree but I understood what they meant. Ultimately, I will certainly come back next time I’m in town because some beers are that outstanding and the place was nice.
