Summary

Bottom Line – Have you ever wanted to drink excellent beers on a table fashioned after a frozen Han Solo? You’ve come to the right place.

I’m writing this review on an evening having learned earlier today that this brewery (in this location) is closing. I lived in South Florida for 2.5 years (2018-2020) and J Wakefield played a pretty big part in my life there so this news hits me in the feels. When my wife and I moved there for my work, we were alone. I met amazing people at my job (Fins Up) but we had to find our own way. This is when we started making “brewery hopping” our thing. J Wakefield played a critical part in this because they regularly had a delicious pastry stout for me (a was and still is favorite of mine). When any friend came to visit South Florida, we’d do Fort Lauderdale one day and Miami another, with the Wynwood area being a critical stop (and J Wakefield being the most important part of that). The place is small, and generally packed, though they did eventually add more outdoor seating. The beer selection was pretty good, though they always had a good mix of styles. Their beers were always great to excellent, and eventually started having more food out front too. Even though it got very busy, the service was always top notch. Every time I went to J Wakefield was a good time. I wish I had been more mindful to take pictures while there, but rest assured, J Wakefield was absolutely a Tier 1 brewery and I hope to see them again in a new location.
