Bottom Line – A brewery with legit good beers hiding behind cover of being a restaurant in one of the more beautiful cities in the country

Smuggler Union is a brewpub located on the East side of “downtown” Telluride. It was the last of three breweries that I could find and my expectations were low to medium. What I found much exceeded. The pub has plenty of space and a nice long bar. With a covered patio facing the mountains, it’s not a bad place to sit. It is a legit full restaurant and the food looked and smelled great. With various styles, the beer menu was pretty expansive. We tried six beers (while watching NBA playoffs on one of the several TVs) and all of them were at least good. I thought two of the beers I had were very good. I was impressed with the quality from a brewpub. The bartender was nice and attentive, and the pricing was high but normal for Telluride. Overall, the next time I come to town, I will absolutely go back.
